Defensive Pistol Skills (DPS) is a 5-part class covering 10 modules of progression that runs after store hours on Friday evenings from 7pm to 10pm. Students will learn the necessary skills to build their safety, proficiency, and confidence with a handgun, preparing themselves for real world carry situations and more advanced courses.
Over the five sessions, students will learn how to utilize a holster, conduct tactical and emergency reloads, solve stoppages with their handgun, engage multiple threats, and move to cover.
Students are required to bring:
A semi-automatic handgun in a realistic defensive caliber such as .380 ACP, 9mm, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, or similar.
A kydex OWB (outside the waistband) or a kydex IWB (inside the waistband) holster.
(2) Magazine pouches..
Appropriate range attire (non-melting, maximum skin coverage. No open toed shoes).
Hearing protection (active preferred).
Eye protection (clear lenses recommended).
Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition PER SECTION.
It is also strongly recommended that students complete a basic/introductory pistol class before attending, and complete the sections of DPS in order, as skills build progressively from class to class.
We recommend taking the sections of DPS in order, however, you are more than welcome to attend any class as they will be held almost every Friday and rotate through the 5 sections of instruction.
